Surface and porosity analysis by gas adsorption

Catalysts, zeolites, metallic and ceramic powders, carbon black, biocokes, biochar, activated carbon

The surface quality and porosity of solid phase materials are physical properties that are essential with regard to the quality and characteristics of manufactured products. BET analysis enables precise determination of the specific surface area of dispersive, solid, micro- to mesoporous materials by gas adsorption.

The determination of the specific pore volume and a pore size distribution by adsorption and desorption techniques is possible by BJH analysis.
For micropores, the pore volume can be determined by carbon dioxide adsorption (especially for microporous carbons). The analysis is carried out using the DFT method.
